Arnold Schwarzenegger is no.1! Pumping Iron was one of earliest bodybuilding documentaries. The film both entertains and education the insanely competitive world of bodybuilding. It gives viewers a glimpse of how hard the athletes train physically and mentally and the pressure they face before and during the competition. Pumping Iron features the then full-time bodybuilder, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the rivalry fellow, Lou Ferrigno.

Standing Tall (1997)

The film takes place in the mid 1970’s when Lou Ferrigno retired from the bodybuilding world to become an actor. Lou eventually landed a famous role in The Incredible Hunk TV show. Although most believe that if he stayed in the bodybuilding world, he would be unbeatable. Standing Tall is about Lou Ferrigno’s incredible journey back to competing in Mr. Olympia after nineteen years of retirement to win back his title.

Generation Iron (2013)

Similar to Pumping Iron, Generation Iron features some of the most well-known bodybuilders in the world as they train for Mr. Olympia competition. If you have seen Pumping Iron, you will notice that the sport has changed a little bit. The film is a combination of inspiration and realism. It reveals one of the toughest discipline that bodybuilders like Branch Warren and Dennis Wolf have to embrace to make it to the top.

Fittest on Earth (2016)

Fittest on Earth is one of the newest documentaries featuring the 2015 Reebox CrossFit Games. You will witness both male and female athletes compete with each other through aggressive physical challenges. “Fittest on Earth” is the title for the winner. Although, this film is not specifically for bodybuilding, it shows an aspect of the world of elite athletes.

Bigger, Stronger, Faster (2008)

In the bodybuilding world, the most negative light is shed on performance enhancing drugs, steroid. Bigger, Stronger, Faster features three bodybuilding brothers and their personal experiences with steroid. While one brother is openly against using steroid, the other two talk about how much pressure they felt to use it due to the intense pressure to win a competition. You will see an insight into the ramification each of them face as a consequence of their choices.
